Water Safety
This guide is designed to assist you during your visit to our historic harbour in order that your use of the water is safe and fits in with the activities of other harbour users.
West Bay Harbour is a ‘commercial working harbour’ and ALL water users, unless authorised by the Harbour Master/staff, MUST keep clear of the busy harbour mouth, and not attempt to cross it or use the pontoons within the harbour walls.
RNLI Lifeguards monitor and patrol East Beach from their mobile station sited on the pier during July and August.
Routine patrols of West Beach happen throughout the day during this period.
Please note: As there could be a variety of water-based activities going on in the same place at the same time. Great care should be taken to respect and/or avoid other water users.
"Please navigate the water safety menu to see further information for your specific activity".
