Sailing Boats & Dinghies

Sailing boats and dinghies may be launched and recovered on the public slipway in the outer harbour.

Visitors should be aware that the slipway can become green and very slippery! Whilst every attempt is made to keep the slipway cleaned, extreme caution must be used when launching and recovering vessels.

West Bay slipway is 10m wide and runs into the sea bed. There is no ‘drop off’ at the end.

For your assistance, you can make use of the pontoon whilst you arrange storage for your trailer or vehicle.

Please come and see us in the Harbour office before launching to complete an application form and collect your launch sticker number.

Harbour users launching for the first time this season must provide evidence of Third-party insurance on arrival or launching is not permitted.”

Visiting yachts should contact the Harbourmaster when planning their passage to confirm depth available. We can accommodate vessels of up to 10m with depth of up to 2m.

Radio: VHF channel 16, working channel 11.

Visiting leisure craft can berth against the pontoon that has been provided.
